The first seaplane service from Mumbai to Shirdi on Friday had to be cancelled due to rain and poor visibility
The first passengers of the seaplane flight to Shirdi, scheduled to take off yesterday morning from Mumbai, had to return disappointed as the flight was cancelled due to unpredictable weather. The irregular rainfall made it difficult for the nine-seater chopper to take off at its scheduled time of 8.30 am.

This is not the first time that the seaplane operator, Maritime Energy Heli Air Services Pvt Ltd (MEHAIR), had to cancel its flights due to unfavourable weather conditions. mid-day had earlier reported how MEHAIR had to ground its Mumbai-Lonavla seaplane services for three days due to continuous heavy rainfall and poor visibility.
“Due to rain and poor visibility, we decided that the flight should not take off,” said the official spokesperson of MEHAIR. According to the seaplane operator, if a flight is cancelled, passengers are accommodated on the next flights. However, in case of an emergency, the passenger is provided a complete refund.
Officials at MEHAIR said that they are expecting to accommodate passengers who could not fly on Friday, in the next two days. “If there are seven passengers booked for the Saturday flight, we will accommodate previous passengers in the chopper. There might be chances that passengers will have to wait for two days. However, if we are not able to accommodate them, their money will be refunded.”
