The complainant has filed a criminal PIL.
"The criminal PIL relies upon various replies to the RTI application wherein it has emerged that norms issued by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) have been flouted with impunity. Another series of letters, accessed under RTI also show how the Head of Security, Western Region of Airports Authority of India has placed on record with the airport operator, the large-scale security lapses and due to this, the vulnerability of the airport in the event of a terror attack," said Bhamburkar.
He also stated that a request has been made to the Registrar General of the Bombay High Court to list Criminal Public Interest Litigation (Stamp) number 7 of 2016 for an early hearing.
It should be noted that the MLCP of terminal 2 of the Mumbai Airport, is located within 100 metre distance of the terminal building which is against the BCAS norms. Bhamburkar had moved to Andheri Court after the Sahar police did not register a FIR against the airport operator and BCAS. After the court order, the police registered the case.
The Andheri Court on February 9 ordered to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the few officers from organizations of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Airport Authority of India and Airport Operator GVK- MIAL.
