and Nepean Sea Road, has invited candidates from the South Mumbai Lok Sabha constituency for a 'meet the candidates' session at 5 pm on April 13.
The meeting assumes importance in the light of the BMC's ongoing work on replacing sewers in Peddar Road that are over 100 years old, which was halted after residents complained about the traffic congestion caused by the work.
B Desai, a resident of Kemps Corner, said, "With unnecessary infrastructure projects underway in the area like the Peddar Road flyover, and the proposed demolition of Priyadarshini Park, residents want to know if the candidates have any solutions to offer."
South Mumbai candidate from Shiv Sena, Mohan Rawale said, "Residents should question me about issues like terrorism, and party policies. It is the BMC that handles sanitation, power supply and water woes." Milind Deora, Congress MP from South Mumbai, said he was not sure if he would be able to attend the meeting. "However, the infrastructure problems faced by South Mumbai are definitely on my agenda."
