IContinuing their aggressive attack on dengue, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday served notices to more prominent Bollywood personalities.

After issuing notices to some Bollywood celebrities Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Jitendra along with singer Amit Kumar Ganguli on Wednesday for ignoring civic warnings and allowing mosquitoes to breed in their homes, the civic body continued its crackdown on Thursday with notices being issued to R K Studios, Adhikari Brothers, Yash Raj Studio and BR Chopra. The residences of Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Ajay Devgan, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Sonali Bendre were also surveyed but no mosquito breeding sites were found there.
Earlier, the authorities had inspected the homes of other prominent personalities like Amitabh Bachchan (four bungalows), Ranjeet, Mahesh Bhatt, Shilpa Shetty and Shabana Azmi but found that they weren't breeding sites for mosquito.
The BMC has undertaken dengue prevention measures in the city on war footing after 77 cases and 3 confirmed deaths were reported from the beginning of 2015. They have inspected 62.75 lakh homes since January, of which breeding spots have been found at 5611. 13,587 people or organisations have been sent notices, and prosecution has been launched against more than 800. The civic body has also recovered a total fine of Rs 23.38 lakh.
As part of the drive, inspection has been carried out at the homes of various celebs. Those with breeding spots were given notices as per section 381B of MMC Act, 1888 for not taking measures to prevent mosquito breeding. According to it, BMC can levy a fine of Rs 2000 to Rs 10,000.
