The notice, which Dr Suvarna Keole issued on Monday evening, has irked the students, their parents and teaching staff too. "All students of three-year and five-year law course are hereby informed that college shall be conducting only one practical and viva voce examination in the respective semesters. No re-examination of the practical subjects would be conducted if the students fail or they are absent without justifiable reasons. At the time of taking samples of fingerprint for biometric attendance, all the students are bound to submit the undertaking regarding the above-mentioned policy," the notice read.
Shocked, the students have questioned the move which comes just two days before Keole's term ends. A student said, "We are confused as none of us are aware of any such practice in any other colleges. There is no clarity on the implementation of this random policy." Another student alleged the move was a "vengeance by the outgoing principal, who had to bend before the Mumbai University's order to conduct retest for a practical paper in May after 270 students failed due to a technical glitch. Conducting retest is a prevalent practice in colleges."
