Nine of Mumbai fire brigade's officials have been selected for bravery awards on the occasion of Independence Day, three of whom have been conferred the President's Fire Service Medal for gallantry.

According to an announcement from the state government, late Chief Fire Officer Sunil Nesrikar (who died a few months ago in the Kalbadevi fire), station officer Sarjerao Bandgar and fireman Nitin Yeolekar (who lost his life in the Lotus Business Park fire) have been conferred the President's medal for gallantry.
Besides, Assistant station officer Amit Padwal, Manojkumar Erande, leading fireman Suryakant Patil, Manik Ogale, fireman Vishwanath Lot and Roxy Fernandes of the Mumbai fire brigade have been awarded Fire Service Medal for Gallantry. All have been chosen for their contribution to fighting the Lotus Business Park fire.
The awards will be conferred in a ceremony by the governor later this year.
