Offices of NCP, Cong and Sena, and those of some govt departments in Nariman Point, are in the way of the Colaba-Seepz Metro line three’s Vidhan Bhavan station; MMRDA wants them vacated temporarily
The Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena, and a few government departments who have their offices in the barracks opposite Mantralaya in Nariman Point, will have to vacate them once the construction of Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro line three begins, as they are in the way of the proposed underground Vidhan Bhavan station.

The exact date to vacate the offices has not been given as Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is in talks with representatives of the political parties and government offices. Metropolitan Commiss-ioner U P S Madan said, “Some political parties and government offices will have to temporarily vacate their offices in Nariman Point area near Mantralaya as we have to construct the underground Vidhan Bhavan Metro station.”
MMRDA has sent letters to the political parties saying they will have to vacate the offices as they are in the way of the construction. “At the government level, we are in talks with the political parties and soon we will arrive at a decision that is acceptable to all,” added Madan. MMRDA will be paying the monthly rent of the political parties for the places they will shift their offices to in nearby areas.
Once the construction is complete, the MMRDA has plans to construct two buildings on the same plot where the political parties will be given permanent offices. The BJP, which has its office in the same area, will not have to vacate it as it is far from the location of the proposed underground Vidhan Bhavan Metro line three station.
