The body of a 45-year-old man was found in Kamothe yesterday, for which a case of murder has been registered. The wife of the deceased suspects the hand of a family member, though the police have not yet confirmed on that angle.
The victim, Binod Kumar Narayan Shah, used to run an electronic shop at the exact spot where he was found murdered. His family, four children and a wife, claimed that his behaviour for the past few weeks had been intolerable.
“His wife said that he was not in a proper state of mind since more than a week. His assault on every family member was getting out of hand, so much so that they had rented a flat just a day prior to the incident, and were getting ready to shift,” said Ashok Naik, Senior Inspector, Kamothe police station.
A local informed the police at 7.45 am that a body is lying on the footpath.
“He was stabbed with a sharp knife and was bleeding when we reached sector 14, where his body was lying in front of his shop, Jyoti Electronic. There was a single wound near the right side of his chest. We shifted his body to the primary health centre in Panvel and will send it for autopsy,” said Naik, adding that even after scrutinising footage from a CCTV put up in the vicinity, they failed to get any clue and, thus, no arrest has been made. A case under IPC section 302 (murder) has been registered and further investigation is underway.
