Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray held a meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the issue, just hours before Tawde met Nadda.

He said that the CM had agreed to meet PM Narendra Modi, a statement which Fadnavis confirmed later in the day.
Thackeray also said that he had already discussed the matter with Modi over phone on Sunday.
Thackeray took a delegation of aggrieved students and parents to Fadnavis, who told mediapersons that enforcing NEET was doing injustice to Maharashtra students.
“I have sought the PM’s time to discuss the issue. I will request the PM to intervene and resolve the matter as early as possible,” Fadnavis said.
But the CM asked students to prepare themselves for NEET as well. “We will try our best to get NEET scrapped, but the students should not stop preparing for the exams (to be held on July 24),” he said.
Thackeray said that he had asked the PM as to who was running the country. “Was it the central government or the Supreme Court?” he said after meeting the CM.
“When we already have a CET in the state, what is the need for NEET?” asked Thackeray.
In Maharashtra, the MH-CET was held on May 5, in which over 4 lakh aspirants appeared for admissions in medical and dental courses. The students also appeared for the first round of NEET on May 1.
