A ticket checker (TC) at CST station was assaulted by a commuter on Saturday night, after he asked the latter to show his ticket.
Mumbai Mirror reported that the TC, Sujit Gupta, was checking tickets on platform 15 and 16. When he asked the accused, identified as Rishi Kumar Singh, to show his ticket, he did not have one. In addition, he refused to pay the fine, claiming he is the Assistant Income Tax Commissioner.
Soon, a fight ensued between the two, after which Singh apparently took out his shoes, and started beating Gupta. “Singh said he did not have a ticket because he could not find a booking office towards platform number 18,” sources told Mumbai Mirror.
On coming to know of the incident, the head ticket examiner reached the spot, and took both to the Government Railway Police (GRP) station.
“We have registered an offence based on the complaint registered by the ticket examiners. We are checking the CCTV footage and other relevant details as a part of investigation after which a charge-sheet will be produced in court. No arrests have been made as yet,” Police Inspector at CST, GRP police station, P B Hiremat told Mumbai Mirror.
The GRP has registered a case under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code, the paper further reported.
