Mumbaikars woke up to a cold, chilly morning at 16.4 degree celcius, for the second time in November this year. According to a report by the Times of India, weathermen said the sudden drop in temperatures is due to the northernly winds over the city and the coastal areas.
Although temperatures dropped during early morning and night, the daytime temperatures continues to remain high at over 30 to 35 degrees celcius. At 16.4 degrees, Mumbai recorded the lowest-minimum temperature since 2013 on Sunday.
The temperature for the last few days was around 20 degrees celcius. A minimum temperature of 16.4 degrees celcius was recorded by IMD's Santacruz observatory. This was 4.5 degrees below normal.
The Colaba observatory recorded 22 degrees celsius as the minimum temperature, which was 1 degree below normal. But, the maximum temperature recorded by the Santacruz observatory was 34.8 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degree above normal, which was almost double the minimum.
According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research, The recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) on Sunday was 222, which is expected to increase to 223, which is not good news as AQI between 200 and 300 will affect people with heart or lung diseases, older adults and children.
