The court will hear the prosecution's plea for conducting a narco test on Chintan Upadhyay and his allegation of 'third degree torture' on Friday
The Borivli Metropolitan Magistrate Court yesterday sent artist Chintan Upadhyay, accused of killing his estranged wife Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harish Bhambhani, to judicial custody till January 11.

Narco or no?
Also, the court will hear the Kandivali police's request for Chintan's Narco, brain mapping and lie detector tests on Friday. While the police have pinned all their hopes on the narco test, sources told mid-day that Chintan has informed his lawyer that he is unwilling to undergo the tests (Read more).
Torture application?
Another application regarding Chintan allegedly getting “third degree torture” in jail will also be heard by the court on Friday (Read more).
At yesterday’s hearing too the defence had raised the issue of the artist suffering from backache and how he was being made to sleep on the floor but the court rejected their demand of homemade food and more medical tests.

Artist Hema Upadhyay and her advocate Harish Bhambhani were found dead in a drain in Dhanukar wadi at Kandivali west on December 11 last year. The Kandivli police have found several sketches, a diary and a pen drive from Chintan’s residence but maintain that the cause of death of the two is not known and they await forensic and chemical analysis reports.
