Dindoshi police have arrested a 24-year-old boy for attempting to kill his 25-year-old former girlfriend,
The accused tried to kill the girl by hanging her in his kitchen, but his plan were foiled by her itself. The girl began shouting which alerted the neighbors.
The boy soon went on to flee away from there. With the help of some neighbors the girl was admitted to the hospital. Police finally got a hold of the boy and slapped charges for attempted murder.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Gupta, 24, and as per information received, resides in Malad East. The victim, who is his neighbor, had an affair with him for the past 4 yrs. As her family did not approve of their relationship, the girl decided to call it quits. She was also late engaged to another. Rakesh did not take this too well and went on to reveal details of their affair to the female's to-be in-laws which led to th engagement being called off.
Last month, on learning that the girl again got engaged, the Rakesh felt more cheated and planned to teach her a lesson. On 1st October, Rakesh called the girl to his place after she finished work. He later on took her into his kitchen and tried to hang her by a rope which he kept. She screamed which caught the neigbors' attention.
According to reports by the police, the girl sensed danger when he asked her to enter his kitchen. She was taken to a hospital in Malad but later shifted to Nair Hospital for treatment.
As per the girl's statement, the accused was booked under IPC 307 and produced before court for police remand. The court has granted police custody to the date of October 10th. As per details, the accused Rakesh is a contractor who resides in Malad, while the girl works at an imitation jewelry store.
