Confident that no one would suspect her young ones of being seasoned thieves, a 33-year-old woman allegedly planned and executed a string of thefts with their help at upscale jewellery shops. The mother of two has been arrested by the D N Nagar police for stealing gold ornaments, aided by her children aged 11 and 14. She was arrested from Borivli on Monday, while the police are looking for the minors.

The accused woman, identified as Yasmin Mustafa Koradia, and her children are residents of Mira Road. Cops said she had a peculiar modus operandi. With her kids in tow, she would enter jewellery stores, clad in chic clothes, and ask to be shown ornaments. While she chatted with the store attendants, her children swiped the jewels and pocketed them. In her statements to the police, Koradia said that no one would ever suspect her two little children of having committed the crimes, so arresting them would be very difficult.

A few months ago, Koradia went to one Kothari Jewellers and stole a necklace worth Rs 22,000 from the shop. Similarly, the mother-sons trio picked up a gold chain worth Rs 26,000 from Parmar Jewellers. Both the incidents were captured on CCTV cameras.
