The accused identified as Mahesh Ambadas Avhad, a security guard at a factory, lived close to the survivors’ houses in Mulund. The survivors aged 11 and 12 years study in the same school.
"While the police officers were delivering the lecture, the 11-year-old survivor approached a teacher and revealed her ordeal," said a police officer. She said a ‘dada’ had been raping her and her 12-year-old friend since the last five months. The accused had threatened them to not tell anybody about it.
"The teacher then called their parents to school and informed them about it. The same day, the parents along with the survivors filed a complaint with Mulund police and the accused was arrested," said the officer.
Mahesh has been booked for rape under Sections 376 (2) (i) (j) (m) (rape) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 4, 8 and 10 under Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act (POCSO) 2012.
The accused was produced in Mulund court on Friday and remanded in police custody. The cops are also investigating if the Mahesh had raped more girls.
