A police officer from Tilak Nagar police station told sunday mid-day, “The incident took place on Saturday afternoon, when her parents were not at home. Only her five-year-old brother was with her. The accused reportedly told them that he wanted to take her measurement for a police uniform, and that he had already spoken to her father.”

The officer further said that the accused pretended to take her measurements, after which, he sent her brother out on some pretext. Then he asked her to remove her clothes, on the pretext of checking whether she has any marks on her body. The complainant in her statement to the police said that the accused raped her after that. She was sent for a medical check-up.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of rape under the Indian Penal Code along with a section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POSCO).
