According to the police, a party had been organised by the Navy for officers and their family members at IMC Dhanush, in Navy Nagar. The complainant, a 26-year-old is a doctor residing in the same Navy colony. The party had food, drinks and a rain dance.

The duo Ritesh Deepak Pun (22) and Dilip Someshwar Nalla (22) were also present at the party. While Pun is a student of Jai Hind College and resides at the Army quarters in Juhu, Nalla is a resident of Jalvayu Apartments in Powai and studies BSc (Aviation).

During the rain dance, the victim was allegedly pushed by Pun once. Initially, she ignored it, thinking the boy was drunk. “But, the accused later kept his hands on her shoulders. She still ignored him, but he again pushed her. That is when her husband asked the accused what he was doing,” said a police officer from the Cuffe Parade police station.

When the husband confronted Pun, Nalla came forward to defend him and an argument ensued between him and the woman’s husband. The husband then caught hold of the two boys and took them to the police station. “We booked both under sections 353 (outraging women’s modesty) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code,” said the police officer.

Advocate Naresh Rathod, who appeared for the accused, claimed everybody was drunk in the party and that the two had lost control and pushed the victim. The magistrate let the two off on cash bail of R5,000 and a bond of Rs 15,000.
