An unidentified person stabbed 22-year-old truck driver, Moinuddin Nisar Shaikh, last night. The Shivaji Nagar resident immediately reported the assault at the local police station in spite of bleeding profusely from the wound on his neck. He, however, died on the way to the hospital later. According to the police, Shaikh had started working two months ago. His sister, Shabana Salim Shaikh, said, “My brother worked as a driver with a Chembur-based transport agency. Last night, he called me at 8.45 pm, and said he was injured and that I must go to the police station.”

The cops said that Shaikh delivered some goods at Sarvodaya Nagar in Ghatkopar and dropped his cleaner near Ghatkopar station. “After dropping the cleaner, he called a friend at 8.15 pm and, at 8.30 pm, he arrived at the police station wounded. We assume he was attacked within 15 minutes,” said a police officer from Shivaji Nagar police station, requesting anonymity.
He added, “Shaikh was bleeding when he walked in and we didn’t inquire much about the assault and decided to take him to the hospital instead. However, he died on the way. We had tried asking him about the incident but he couldn’t talk, and bled more heavily when he tried to.”
Shaikh’s family alleged that a man named Wasim, who stayed in the same area as them, had attacked him. “On June 21, my brother had quarrelled with Wasim, and I think this is a case of revenge,” claimed Shabana. The cops have detained Wasim and the cleaner of the truck. The accused has been booked under IPC Section 302 (punishment of murder).
