According to sources, the passenger went into her labour mid-air after which the pilot contacted the nearest Air Traffic Control and, after declaring medical emergency, landed at Turkey. The patient was immediately de-boarded and rushed to the nearest hospital, said sources. The flight took off for Mumbai at around 11.30 pm (IST) and was expected to land at around 3.30 am instead of 1.30 am.
However, a spokesperson of Lufthansa said, "The flight en route to Mumbai had to make a medical emergency landing at Turkey after which the sick passenger was provided with immediate medical care."
