Mumbai: Wildlife warden gets threat call from unidentified man

Honorary wildlife warden of Mumbai, Sunish Subramanian Kunju has alleged that he has received a threat call from someone who claims to be a "well-wisher" of the man whose elephant died last week. A complaint has been registered at the Bhandup police station.


"On January 25, a 30-year-old elephant named Laxmi died in Dahisar. She was owned by Sabhashankar B Pande. The person who called me claims to be Pande's well-wisher," Kunju alleged, adding that he received calls from two different numbers on January 29.


He also added that in 2014, when he had complained about the elephant being used in an annual temple festival in Powai, Pande and his son Saresh along with 15 men assaulted him. S Jadhav, investigating officer, Bhandup police station said, "Based on the complaint, we have registered an NC. Further investigations are on."
