A Teenager teasing a senior citizen ended up sparking a communal row in Santacruz East. The situation was finally brought under control by the Vakola police, which registered a cross complaint and arrested two miscreants for creating nuisance and tension.
The incident took place in Seva Nagar, considered a communally sensitive area.
The conflict began on Monday evening, when Mohd. Umar Ali, 19, asked Baburao Dumre, 65, for the time. The question, while seemingly innocent, was often used to tease Dumre, who had difficulty in telling the time due to his old age.
Both the communities got into a major row over the teasing, which escalated into a full-blown brawl that resulted in minor injuries to Umar, his sister and another woman.
The cops registered a cross complaint and also arrested Umar and fellow accused, Santosh Narwekar.
