Mumbai Police deny downgrading security of Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan

The Mumbai Police has clarified that the media reports of security cover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir being curtailed and completely being scrapped for some others following an audit on threat perceptions are wrong

The Mumbai Police has clarified that the media reports of security cover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir being curtailed and completely being scrapped for some others following an audit on threat perceptions are wrong.

Replying via their official Twitter handle, Mumbai Police have refuted the reports of downgrading and scrapping of security of the film personalities.

Earlier in November, Aamir Khan's security has been beefed up after protests outside his house at Hill Road, Bandra. Five Hindu Sena workers had been arrested for protesting outside his bungalow (Read more).

Amid the row over Shah Rukh Khan's remarks on 'extreme intolerance' in the country, the Mumbai Police had also beefed up SRK's security (Read more).

The two had been provided 24x7 security after controversies following their comments on 'intolerance' and increased threat perceptions to their lives, the official said.

Until now, police provided security to around 40 personalities including director Rajkumar Hirani, Farah Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ali Morani and Karim Morani. These have been totally withdrawn.

Besides the two Khans, security cover will continue for singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, actors Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, directors Mahesh Bhatt and his brother Mukesh Bhatt and a few others.
