The airport police station has registered an FIR against a commercial pilot for forging an officer's signature on the Instrument Rating Renewal document. It is an important requirement while employing pilots. A police complaint was lodged against Captain Rohit Bakshi, 38, (Commercial Pilot Licence, 5027) on January 20 by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

In the complaint, DGCA has alleged that Rohit forged an officer's signature in the Instrument Rating Renewal document in 2014. A reliable source has said that DGCA realised the crime in the year 2015, when Rohit came for renewal of the license. The officer in-charge noticed that the signature appeared different from the one in 2014. This raised suspicions about Rohit.
Sources added that acting on the suspicion, DGCA conducted an internal inquiry and found Rohit had forged the signature. They then approached the police. Rohit has worked as a First Officer (Civil Aviation) with private companies. SK Hulsure from Poonawalla Aviation Pvt. Ltd, a charter aircraft company, told mid-day that Rohit was employed with them from 2010 to early 2014. "We are aware of the police case registered against him regarding the forged signature," he said.
DGCA and the police were repeatedly contacted for their statements, but there was no response from them. Captain Rohit was also contacted on his social media accounts, but he also did not respond. The airport police station has booked him under Sections 417 (cheating), 419 (cheating by personation), 465 (forgery) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code. An officer from the airport police station said Rohit's earlier records are also being scanned to check whether he has forged other documents. Police are also investigating Rohit's motive behind the crime and whether other people were involved.
