The Annual Asia University rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE), released on Wednesday, reveals that the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) has dropped to the 44th position from last year's 42nd in Asia. However, the institute has managed to bag the second ranking in India. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, which ranks 29th in Asia, has bagged the first position in the country.
According to the companys report, the rankings are a result of a survey of more than 350 colleges and universities across Asia, which includes 25 countries. In the World University Rankings, IITB features between 351 and 400. A statement issued by IITB stated, "IITB has been judged based on all its core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. It has received an overall score of 44.6 out of 100. The Institute has scored 46.9 in teaching, 43.4 in research, 47.8 in citations, 53.4 in industry income and 19.9 in international outreach."
