The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce
A wedding tail with a difference
At a time when most weddings make news for their opulence, this is a refreshing departure. When Mumbai couple, Shikha Lopes and Rahul Pramanick tie the knot on November 7, they have requested their family and friends to skip gifts.

However, if they still wish to gift the couple, they can make a donation to Animals Matter to Me, a city-based stray animal welfare NGO, which the couple supports. “With God’s blessings, I have found a perfect soulmate who is as passionate about animals as I am.
This is a big day in my life and although I cannot share it with my furry friends (strays), I would really like to do something different and involve them, somehow. We would prefer that guests make a donation to AMTM instead. The link will be posted on my wedding website and as my FaceBook event,” shares Lopes.
“I dream of owning land where I set up an open shelter for every injured, unwanted animal; a place they can call home. My fiance shares the same dream, and is helping me with it.
Nothing will make me more happy than this wedding gift to my furry friends,” she concludes. Check out their wedding story on www.theknot.com /us/shikha-lopes-and-rahul-pramanick-nov-2015/details#gifts

Owner Richard Dias, has now joined the Gourmet Renaissance group, a food and beverage company, as director. The new space offers a traditional Thai menu, and is located on Woodhouse Lane.
“Thai Ban has always been an eatery for the masses; we have retained that avatar and ambience. Even some of our recipes, like Thai Curry and the Tom Yum soups have been left unchanged,” reveals Dias, former chef with the Taj Group of Hotels. “Don’t miss our welcoming façade with the Buddha,” he signs off.
