The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce
Music, get your fix
It is not samapt but Samparpan. Yes, we know that the classical music season is petering away, especially open air concerts now that the mercury has gone up a few notches, but there’s still some to come in the city.

Focus, SoBo’s southern tip
It was a weekend of brainstormin' and talking for a clutch of Colaba residents who were at the Radio Club (near Taj) to talk about how they were going to take forward their opposition to an updated list of hawking zones prepared by the BMC for the ‘A’ ward.
A meeting in progress at the Radio Club
Of particular concern was the stretch from Radio Club to the mandir on Causeway which has been declared as a hawking zone. Opinions flew back ‘n’ forth given the number of residents. There were talks about whether to proceed legally or seek meetings with the civic authorities.
Overall though the message was: Be rational, do not be sentimental, for instance, one cannot use “overcrowding” as a reason to not have hawking, do not say that I do not want hawkers near me, anywhere else is okay, advised one speaker and another said “we do not want any rabble rousing and George Fernandes like statements.”
They want to make a “reasoned representation” to the commissioner. It now remains to be seen if they hawk the talk, or talk the hawk. Or… let's just wait for new turns to the Causeway controversy.
