Jeremy Mayer, a typewriter sculptor, created an exclusive Lotus sculpture with the last batch of typewriters of Godrej Archives, the business archive of Godrej Group.

The sculpture, was unveiled by Navroze and Pheroza Godrej at Hubble in Godrej & Boyce, Mumbai. The approximately 13-feet tall metallic Lotus has been sculpted using parts from 60 typewriters and consists of 15 petals with each petal being made with more than 200 parts from the typewriters.

On Tuesday, before returning home to Tangdhar, a remote border village, 20 young men from Kashmir made a pit stop at the Fashion Street. These teenagers (16 to 18 years old) were in Mumbai for a two-day-trip as part of Sahrai-e-quami-etihad, a tour organised by the Indian Army for national integration under the Sadbhavana initiative.

Major Abhishek Trivedi, Havildar Sushil Dutt and Naik Anil Kumar of Chinar Corps supervised them. “They have grown up in a world where clashes between militants and military are not evening news to be consumed over a leisurely cup of tea, but are a daily reality.
For them, the idea that there can be a place where they can freely roam around on streets after 7.30 pm without getting hauled up and asked to show a ID proof is no less than a miracle,” said Major Trivedi, adding that these trips are an initiative to build a relationship of trust with locals while giving youngsters a broader perspective of India.
“These students have never ventured beyond their tehsil. We took them to the sets of a TV show. They were awestruck by the vastness of the sea; one exclaimed that it’s probably bigger than their local lake,” he added.
