A senior citizen was found murdered at her Dombivli West residence last morning by locals. The Vishnu Nagar police, who have registered a case, found that she was attacked with a cooker and knife on her head. The police have arrested a resident of the same building, Rohit Laxman Tayade, who allegedly killed the woman for abusing his mother during a fight between them.

The discovery
According to the police, the victim, Manisha Jaywant Khanolkar, who is in her early 60s, lived in Om Parshuram Apartment in Kopargaon. Officers believe the incident took place between 9 pm on Saturday and 11.30 am yesterday.

"The victim used to take tuition classes for schoolchildren at her home and had been staying alone for the last 17 to 18 years. She was found in a pool of blood in her kitchen, with blunt injuries on her head," said an officer. Senior inspector R N Munagekar said, "After not seeing her around on Sunday, residents of the building suspected something amiss and climbed up to her flat window. They saw her lying in the kitchen."

Fit of rage
"The accused's mother and the victim had a fight a week ago, during which the latter abused her. In anger, he assaulted her and killed her," said another officer. Vaijinath Shridhar Kedar, 30, a sub-inspector at Vishnu Nagar police station, is the complainant in the case, registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
