The Mumbai Crime Branch on Wednesday busted a milk adulteration racket from Pathanwadi in Malad and during the raid, the crime branch seized 523 litres of milk of branded companies worth Rs 25,000 and arrested two men in this connection. The arrested accused have been identified as Vijaykumar Chirboina, 27 and Saikumar Basani, 20.

According to the crime branch officers, the duo procured milk packets of brands like Amul and Gokul from another man who is wanted in this case. The accused used to cut those milk packets and remove around 300 ml from every one-litre pack and used to replace it with water unfit for human consumption. The duo would then reseal the milk packets and then sell it.
The police have also recovered empty packets of branded milk companies which the accused used to mix the 300 ml milk and water in proportions and then sell that again in the market.
The duo has been arrested under various sections of Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act. They have been sent to the Kurar police station for further investigation.
