A 20-year-old watches TV late into Sunday night at his elder brother's courier company office at LT Marg. Other employees request him to turn the TV off so they can sleep. The youth is HIV-positive and used to being coddled by his family, so he ignores the requests. They call his brother and uncle to make him see reason, but the boy remains obstinate.

The youth's frustrated brother slaps him and yells at him for disregarding everyone else's needs. Not used to being held accountable or being disciplined, the 20-year-old reacts by stabbing his brother twice. "The boy had never heard been scolded in this manner before, and no one had ever slapped him. Full of anger, he picked up the knife, which was kept in the room, and stabbed his brother twice," said a police officer.

The employees rush the elder brother to GT Hospital, where he is admitted and out of danger. Meanwhile, the police arrest the younger sibling and charge him for attempt to murder. He breaks down and confesses to the crime. The cops said he admitted he was wrong. The family, while distraught, continues to stand by the youth. The boy has been produced in court and sent to jail.
