The victim said Eric Pillai had made her life miserable ever since they broke up in May after she discovered that he was married; accused him of defaming her in the industry
Based on the complaint filed by a 35-year-old Disc Jockey (DJ), officials from Amboli police station arrested her ex-boyfriend Eric Pillai from Oshiwara last evening. A music composer by profession, Pillai had allegedly stalked and mentally harassed the woman since their break-up in May.

In her complaint, the woman claimed that she had been in a relationship with Pillai for five years and he had promised to marry her. However, in May, she discovered that Pillai was married and had a child. Realising their relationship could destroy his marriage, the complainant decided to speak to Pillai and part ways amicably.
However, things did not work out the way she had planned. Days after the break-up, Pillai tried to persuade her to get back with him. However, when his attempts failed, Pillai allegedly started intimidating the complainant.
Threat calls
She said Pillai would call and message her at odd hours, threatening to finish her career if she refused to reconsider her decision. He apparently went to the extent of defaming the woman by spreading lies about her in the industry. She added that Pillai even used his influence to prevent music companies from hiring her.
The complainant claimed that he had scared the living daylights out of her with a message, wherein he had threatened to kill her if she kept resisting. Fearing the worst, the frightened woman asked her mother to live with her.
Living in fear
Speaking to mid-day, the complainant said, “After discovering that he is married, I distanced myself from him and thought of starting life afresh. But Eric had other plans. He started mentally harassing me in May, by calling day and night. It went to the extent that the thought of committing suicide crossed my mind. Moreover, he defamed me in the industry. I was alone in this city and always lived in fear of him doing something bad to me. I had no option but to file a police case against him.”
