The accused, identified as Suhas Jhimal, grabbed the victim and yanked her inside the toilet, where he allegedly forced her to kiss him. The incident took place 10 days ago, after which the girl’s parents, accompanied by a few locals, reported the matter to the Kurla police. The cops nabbed the accused immediately after.

According to the police officials, Jhimal was going to the toilet, which is shared by the residents of the quarters, when he spotted the girl, who was playing hide-and-seek nearby. Pouncing on what he saw as an opportunity, he caught hold of the 12-year-old.
The investigating officer from Kurla police station, requesting anonymity, said, “Jhimal pulled the victim inside the toilet and started forcing her to kiss him, but one of his neighbours spotted them and raised an alarm.
The locals of the area gathered and broke up the act, and informed the girl’s parents, who then approached the police station along with the locals.” However, in his statement to the police, Jhimal stated that in the course of the game she was playing with her friends, the girl had gone inside the toilet to hide.
Jhimal has been booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code along with sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
Senior Inspector Vinod Shinde from Kurla police station confirmed the incident and said, “We have registered the offence and the victim has told us that the accused pulled her inside the toilet and forced her to kiss, when an onlooker saw what was happening and alerted the locals.” The accused was arrested and produced in court, and was later remanded in judicial custody, added Shinde.
