Senior Inspector Suhas Garud from Wadala Truck Terminal police station said, “After the parents realised that the girl had gone missing, they began looking for her. CCTV footage has revealed that the accused had picked her up and taken her to an isolated location inside the dumping ground at Antop Hill, where he raped her.”
The girl was left at the dumping ground by the accused. The five-year-old managed to make her way out, and was found crying by locals. The control room was informed and the Antop Hill police were dispatched to the spot. “As the area from where she was kidnapped is under our jurisdiction, the girl was brought to the Wadala TT police station and then admitted to Sion hospital.
The victim spoke to her mother and, on the basis of her statement, a case was registered,’ added Garud. An FIR has been registered against an unknown accused under Sections 376 (Rape), 363 (Kidnapping) and 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
