An evening of revelry before the final day of exams ended on a tragic note in Andheri as a 20-year-old fell to his death from an extension on the 4th floor of Ashtavinayak CHS building. Sources said the deceased, Sahil Wavhal alias Tushar Wavhal, was found in the duct area of the DN Nagar high-rise. While cops have filed an accidental death report (ADR) in the case, they have launched an investigation to ascertain if any foul play was involved.

Sources said Sahil, a resident of Versova's Eversweet Building, had reached his friend, Akash Salunkhe's apartment in Ashtavinayak CHS last evening. Two other friends, including an Amboli resident Maaz Naumani, accompanied him. A source from DN Nagar police said, "The control room was alerted around 9.15 pm about the incident. Cops reached the spot to find Sahil's body in a pool of blood on the building's commercial side. While Akash had alerted the security officials of the building, Maaz informed Sahil's family."

Apparently, it wasn't the first time that these youth had accessed the extension of the building. A source from the residential society said that the youths had been spotted in the restricted area thrice in the last four days. Society member Pravin Bangera said, "It seems the four of them were moving from one wing of the building to another, using the extension, when Sahil lost balance and fell."

Speaking to mid-day, one of Sahil's friends, said, "Sahil was a third-year IT student at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. He was very passionate about music and had sung a few ad jingles. Sahil and Maaz were to appear for their last exam today, after which Sahil was scheduled to participate in a college-level cricket match. It's yet to sink in that he's no more."

A source said, "Cops are likely to question the three friends who had accompanied Sahil to the podium. It's unclear why they kept frequenting the restricted area."

Refusing to divulge much, investigating officer Santosh Solankar said, "Sahil's body has been sent for post-mortem. Further probe will be conducted based on that report."
