After spotting the body of an unidentified woman floating in Mithi river, locals immediately informed the Kurla police, who then reached the spot and rushed her to the VN Desai hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared her dead on arrival.

According to the police, the primary post-mortem report has not revealed any signs of injury and has also ruled out the possibility of sexual assault. However, the cops are yet to identify her. The locals, who spotted her body, said that she might be a rag picker.

Speaking to mid-day, a police officer said, "It seems that she was a rag picker; her clothes suggest so. There are chances that she slipped into the water and drowned.

An accidental death report has been registered in the matter. Further investigation is on."
