The 22-year-old woman, a resident of Virar, who is working with a private company at Andheri (East), has been in a relationship with a colleague since 2013. Six months earlier, she and her boyfriend had gone to a hotel at Vasai where they got physically intimate.
She made a video of the time and saved it in her mobile. On January 16, Sharma, her colleague, took her mobile phone to listen to songs and play games. He also saw a few videos in the phone and he found the clip of the couple.
He took her phone on the pretext of listening to songs two to three more times. During this period, he allegedly transferred the videos to Meher’s mobile as his (Sharma’s) phone was not as advanced. Police say from Meher’s mobile, the video was sent to other colleagues.
The woman got to know about this when she saw a message in the office toilet saying, if anyone wants her MMS, contact Rohit Sharma. She then registered a complaint against Sharma at Virar police station on February 10.
The case was transferred to Sahar police station as the office comes under their jurisdiction. The Sahar police investigated the matter after February 11 when the case was transferred to them.
They arrested Sharma and Meher from the office. Meher was arrested because the film was shared with people through his mobile. Advocate Bashir Patel, who is representing one of the accused, said, “The accused were remanded in police custody after they were first produced in the court.
When they were presented in court the second time they were remanded in judicial custody.” Senior police official of Sahar police station refused to comment on the case saying it is a sensitive matter and under investigation. The case has been registered under Section 354 (C) (Voyeurism) of Indian Penal Code and under various sections of the IT Act.
