Vivek Champalal Mehta (31) approached the woman last August to join hands as a partner in his business venture. The victim, a Malad resident gave all her savings and also borrowed money from friends and relatives for the project. After months of not getting any returns she started putting pressure on him, even dropping at his house, where she says she was abused and assaulted. She then filed a complaint at the Malad police station under section 420, 354, 509, 506, 323 of IPC. The cops arrested Mehta, husband of Sandhya Meghawat, on Wednesday.
Cops say during interrogation, Mehta revealed he had spent all they money in gambling and drinking. “He would impress people by using showing fake credentials and then asking them to invest in his business. He would harp on the fact that his wife is an actress,” said an officer.
