Another cop has been arrested by the Bhoiwada police in the fake job scam, where a policeman lured colleagues with the promise of better jobs. The accused policemen targeted cops who are fed up with the job and promised them lucrative postings in BMC, Excise, Sales Tax, Mantralaya, etc.

mid-day had reported the first arrest on December 14, "Cop arrested for scamming colleagues with 'better jobs'". Harshal Dinkar Kolghe, (31), had been arrested by the Bhoiwada police in connection with the job scam.


On Sunday, the Bhoiwada police arrested the second accused in the case, identified as Vaibhav Koli, (36), a resident of Naigaon police colony in Bhoiwada and attached with the local arms unit of Mumbai police in Worli. Koli was produced in court and remanded in police custody till January 8.

Kolghe and Koli are residents of the same building. An officer said, “They told their victims that they have a good rapport with a top IPS officer who will get them the jobs. They took R8 to 10 lakh from each victim.”

A police officer said, “The duo has cheated over 20 people for over Rs 1.5 crore and of these 16 are policemen. More arrests are likely in the case.”
