Police said Bablu Gupta (21), who owned a milk shop at Valaipada in Nalasopara East, was called by Ravi Bhargod (21) to his house to resolve a dispute between 5.30pm and 8 pm.
There, Bhargod and three of his friends got Gupta drunk, strangled him and put the body in a sack.
They were biding their time to dump the body when Gupta’s brother, Chandrashekhar, arrived at the spot. As the four alleged murderers legged it, Chandrashekhar called the police.
“We managed to arrest one of the accused. We are on the lookout for others,” said inspector Kiran Kabadi of the Tulinj police station. During questioning, Bhargod revealed that he had been fired from his job two months ago and had killed Gupta in retaliation.
