A massive fire erupted in the Mankhurd scrapyard early on Sunday morning. Near twenty fire tenders were rushed to douse the blaze.
The fire is said to have originated in a shop near Mankhurd's Maya Hotel. Assistant Commissioner Ward officer has instructed to demolish unauthorised structure and lodge FIR against unauthorised structure and cut of electric supply to DMCR.

According to a fire brigade official, "The blaze started at a scrap shop in the market near Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road in Kurla around 6 am and spread to other adjacent galas (shops)." No casualties have been reported thus far. Further information remains awaited.
