Confirming the development, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Commissioner UPS Madan said, “The metro car depot is an important aspect of the entire Metro project. The construction will start on a 30-hectare plot in Aarey Milk Colony, for which a contract has already been awarded to contractor R K Madhani.”

A senior MMRDA official said that it is necessary to have proper land for construction of the car depot with all the requisite permissions. “This will help MMRDA implement the project without glitches or delays. The state immediately gave us permission to acquire the plot to build the car depot,” he said.
