The deceased, identified as Alka Kutil, was living with her husband Shibu, who runs an auto workshop, and her two-year-old daughter. Kutil believed that she would die soon and her disease could also affect her daughter. Police said that the deceased had also refused to go in for medical treatment for her disease.

Yesterday, Alka locked her husband and daughter inside their apartment, and jumped off from the common passage on the 15th floor outside her flat. She died on the spot. The society’s watchman informed the other residents and the police. Soon after, a neighbour opened the door to Kutil’s flat and informed the family about the tragedy.

Police speak
According to Inspector BS Khandade of Charkop Police Station, “On Sunday evening, Alka was very depressed and her parents also arrived at her residence to meet her. She was crying continually and refused to get admitted to hospital. She had got married just three years back and had a two-year-old daughter.

Alka believed that her illness would affect her daughter too. Her parents told us that she had committed suicide due to this reason. We have recorded the statements of her parents and her husband.” The Charkop police have registered an Accidental Death Report.
