According to police officials, Zaveri resides with her husband and two children at the 18th floor of Pushpak Building, Altamount Road. Her husband is a businessman, and both kids were out at the time of the incident. Cops said the incident took place on Tuesday morning.
The accused had been hired by the family a month back as a domestic help, but the family was not satisfied with his services.
Attack most foul
On Tuesday morning, the accused delayed giving Zaveri a glass of milk, after which there was a heated argument between them. Zaveri told him that she would sack him and bring in somebody else. Infuriated by this, the accused threatened Zaveri, and used an iron hammer and hit her a few times on her head.
Zaveri went down in a pool of blood, but managed to call her husband, while the accused escaped from the place. She was later rushed to Breach Candy Hospital, and shifted subsequently to Jaslok Hospital, where she is currently recuperating.
A police officer from Gamdevi police station said, “The accused has been identified, and we have his picture and number. A team has been sent to Tamil Nadu, where he is actually from. We hopefully expect to arrest him soon.”
