On Sunday, a vehicle of TajSATS, an airline caterer, lost balance and hit the private plane parked nearby. The aircraft suffered damage to its nose and its left portion. Also, a person sitting beside the driver got head injuries and was first rushed to the airport medical room, where he got first aid. Later, he was taken to Mukund Hospital in Andheri.

Girish Vinayak Nalawade (53), senior attendant with TajSATS who was seated beside the driver, sustained head injuries. Dr Bipin Pandit, obstetrician & gynecologist from Mukund Hospital, Andheri, said, “The patient had Contused Lacerated Wound (CLW) on the left side of his forehead, after which he was given five surgical staples and some medicines. The patient has been called for a follow up after two days.”

A TajSATS spokesperson said the matter is under investigation and they will extend their full cooperation to the concerned authority. An FIR has been registered at Airport Police station against the driver under Sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code.

In another recent airside accident, on February 23 a Boeing aircraft suffered partial damage while it was moving towards its bay at the Mumbai airport. The Air India flight had arrived from Ahmedabad with 447 passengers and was about to take off when it hit a light pole at the perimeter area.
