In a meeting between the MMRDA and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) authorities that lasted for over four hours , the former was asked to complete the pending work of the Monorail Phase II — Wadala to Jacob Circle — at the earliest. The meeting took place on Monday evening at the MMRDA headquarters, following a CAG audit of the entire Jacob Circle-Wadala-Chembur Monorail corridor.

Confirming the same, MMRDA Commissioner UPS Madan said, “The CAG meeting pertaining to Monorail Phase II took place on Monday, and various topics were discussed during the meeting. These consisted of the cost factor and the operations, among others.”
Before the meeting on Monday, MMRDA officials gave a presentation to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday. During this meeting, the officials informed CM about the completed and ongoing projects.
Sources in the MMRDA claimed that Fadnavis has asked the development body to ensure that the ongoing projects, including Monorail Phase II, should be completed at the earliest and proper care should be taken so that problems faced during the execution of Monorail Phase I — Chembur to Wadala — were not replicated.
“The Monorail is a new mode of transport, which we introduced for the first time in the country. So, we faced issues during the execution of Phase I, which is part of our learning curve. We have already instructed the company looking after the operations that problems faced during Phase I should not get replicated, for which necessary precautions are being taken,” said an MMRDA official.
MMRDA authorities said they were confident of completing Monorail Phase II and starting operations by the end of 2015.
“The work on the second phase is in progress and we all have all the necessary permissions and clearances in place, including those from Central Railway. There are a couple of issues related to the Right of Way (ROW), but we are sure of securing it soon. The line will be thrown open to the public by the end of next December.” Madan said.
