More than a month after a 17-year-old autistic boy went missing from Colaba, his family is going out of their way to trace his whereabouts. A report in Mumbai Mirror said the boy, identified as Taran Gupta, is speech impaired and has a partial vision and he went missing on October 1 after he lost his way in the Colaba market.

Taran, a Colaba resident, is a student of the Jai Vakeel Special School in Sewri. The boy’s father Vinod has lodged a missing person’s complaint with the police and has also shared information about his son on various platforms. He said that a person, following the information posted told him that he spotted the boy at Bandra railway station on Saturday.

Vinod also claimed that Taran went to Panvel railway station the day after he went missing. He said that the authorities showed him a CCTV footage of the station where an officer, associated with the Railway Protection Force, bundled him into a Konkan-bound train. He added that the boy was seen crying and asking for water.

An RPF officer, Laxman Singh, who was said to be on duty when Taran was put in the train said that they were trying to help the boy as he was pointing towards it.
