All the students, who failed in Physics and Chemistry, blame the college for not submitting the internal assessment marks; college remains silent on issue
The college failed to give a satisfactory response to the students
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) result was out on Wednesday, and lakhs of students began their journey towards higher education. But at Mumbra’s St. Mary’s Junior College, the picture is totally different. Around 150 students who have failed in the HSC examination protested outside it yesterday alleging that it did not submit their internal assessment marks, which has led to this failure.

While the college has kept mum on the issue, the Mumbai division of the state board has said that the college was given a show-cause notice in April after it was found that staff had tampered with the internal assessment marks.
On Wednesday, after the result was declared, several students turned up at the college claiming that it was impossible for them to fail in HSC. According to them all of them have failed only in physics and chemistry. Irate students protested at the college on Thursday morning when authorities assured them that they will discuss the issue with the board. However according to state board, the college had leniently assessed internals and the verified result has failed these students. According to the state board data, of the college’s 645 students, 450 have passed and the college has 75% passing. Of the 195 who failed, 150 are making the allegation.
One of the students, Yasar Khan, said, “How can all the students fail in same subjects? This is only because the college has not sent our internal assessment marks. When we stormed into college on Wednesday after seeing the result, they asked us to wait till 7 pm. But their representatives who went to the board office did not turn up even till late in the evening.”
The principal of the college, Tasnim Walkekar remained unavailable for comment, despite several attempts to reach her.
