The train had left Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) but when it reached Kurla at around 4.10 pm, it got stranded till 4.50 pm and was restored later.
This however, forced people to walk on tracks all the way to the nearest station.
Moreover, the platforms and trains across the Harbour line were densely crowded with people as the incident happened near Kurla.
"The crowd at Kurla was more due to the technical fault. Many walked all the way till the station," said a CR official.
On Sunday there was no mega block carried out by the Central Railway.
