What happens when one fine day you start getting calls from strangers asking for sex? This is exactly what happened with a 23-year-old girl, who later realised that her ex-boyfriend had posted her intimate images and videos on a pornography website along with her mother’s contact number, just to avenge their break-up. The Tulinj police have registered a case against the 23-year-old accused.
Initially, the mother-daughter duo ignored the calls considering them to be random and from wrong numbers, but when the frequency increased, they decided to investigate the matter. When the girl questioned a caller, he said that her intimate images and video were posted on a porn site. Thereafter, they approached the Tulinj police station and registered a complaint.
An affair, a break-up
Both the victim and the accused became friends while they were studying in the same coaching class in Nalasopara. Later, they got into a relationship, which continued for a couple of years. After their break-up, the accused was staying in Naigaon, while the girl was living in Vasai. Last year, after the accused moved to Navi Mumbai, he started visiting the locality where the girl stays and was even stalking her. Thereafter, in January 2016 they had a fight after which he assaulted the girl. The victim then filed a complaint at Tulinj police station. A police officer said a non-cognizable case was registered against him but he was later released. Thereafter, he used the girl’s pictures to avenge the break-up and the police complaint that she had filed.
Cop speak
The officer said, “We have registered a case under section 354(c) [punishment for any man who watches, or captures the image of a woman engaging in a private act in circumstances where she would usually have the expectation of not being observed] of IPC and relevant sections of the also IT Act. The matter is being probed.”
