The Bhandup police has registered an FIR against a 23-year-old boy for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The girl was untractable after she went out to a grocery store in her locality but didn't return back for a couple of hours. Her relatives worried about her fate lodged a complaint with the Bhandup police station.

While the police had just started investigating the matter, the girl returned home the following day and on questioning, told her family that she had been raped in the jungle at a Bhandup complex. The police is yet to arrest the accused who has been on the run since the incident happened.

The teenage girl, had just stepped out of her house in the evening to purchase grocery from a nearby shop in the locality and disappeared. When she did not return home, her family started to look for her but could not locate her. They then reached Bandup police station which lodged a kidnapping case under section 363 of the IPC and launched investigations.

However, the girl reached home the following day and told her family that she was raped in the jungle located at inside Bhandup complex, which is next to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The family of the survivor informed the police which has been on the lookout for the accused.

She knew him since both are from the same locality." Senior police inspector Shripad Kale of Bhandup police station said, "A case under sections 363 (Kidnapping) ,376 (Rape) and Protection of Children against sexual offences Act has been registered against the accused."
